Celebrating 25 Years with Gila Rut: Debbie Cheslow
Aug 24, 2017

How did you get started coming to Gila Rut?
A friend recommended Gila Rut in 2002. What made me continue to visit over the years is the customer service and friendliness. So many salons make you feel like you’re not good enough. Everyone here is so welcoming—Gila Rut is like my second home! It’s super fun and makes me feel good. I make sure to visit at least once a month to get my “fix.”

What was your profession when you started coming to Gila Rut? And now?
Then: Helping patients get reimbursed for medical bills as a Senior Project Manager at a Contract Research Organization (CRO) Health Care consultancy. Now: Associate Director at a different organization.

What’s your favorite hobby?
Travel. My favorite place is a toss-up between Paris and Belize. I love anywhere tropical.

How has Gila Rut impacted your life or style?
The stylists at Gila Rut finally made me LOVE my curly hair! I fought it for years. They always keep me in style with cool hairstyles and very cool colors! I get my curls enhanced with color, and I’m really having fun with my style and color.
The haircuts enhance my curls so I actually know how to style my hair. I used to have to wash my hair every day, but now the next day it even looks better! It’s like magic!

What is your favorite part about coming to Gila Rut?
Friendly and familiar faces. There has never been a time where I did NOT feel welcome!

Do you have a memorable story from years past?
At my old job, I was co-chair of our Charity and Community Outreach Committee (CCOC). Every year we did a silent auction where employees donated services, art, merchandise, etc. for other employees to bid on. Proceeds funded the CCOC for the rest of the year (i.e., to purchase backpacks that employees would fill up with donated school supplies that we gave to new refugees). I worked with Shannon and Andrea for a number of years to obtain donated services from Gila Rut. The donations were so generous, and everyone at Gila Rut was so happy to be involved. It took my appreciation and respect for Gila Rut to a new level!

How would you sum up Gila Rut celebrating 25 years in business?
Well deserved! Gila Rut stands out among so many other salons thanks to its combination of high-quality service and down-to-earth, super friendly demeanors. I have never experienced “attitude” from anyone. Just the opposite–everyone is so nice, helpful and happy to see you. And that’s not to mention the choice of two free mini services (neck massage, hand massage, facial, makeup touch-up). Most of the time I just get two neck massages! (Shhhh, don’t tell anyone?)
