The whole multi-faceted event was just as much about celebrating the creative spirit of San Diego as it was about what the models were wearing.  Part of that spirit were the many local sponsors who stepped up to support Fashion Week San Diego … among them, the Gila Rut Aveda Salons.

The 10-member strong Gila Rut design team proudly participated in many of the collections, doing what they do best.  During FWSD, it was doing the hair and make-up ‘on trend’ for the runway models.  And now, these trendy looks ‘live on’ for the holidays as head-turning looks for salon guests at the Hillcrest, Otay Ranch and Torrey Hills locations.

From the runway to real life, nothing could be more glamorous for the season’s holiday parties and special occasions than Gila Rut’s inspired signature looks for hair and make-up.

Longer hair…Gila Rut-Redefined!

For hair, it is all about balancing the silhouette — the hair style in contrast to the clothes.  The Gila Rut gurus love to create an array of fabulous finishes for each polished head of hair.  Thematic throughout their design work is hair swept sleek at one side, a sculpted top knot that adorns the front at one side of the side part…and finally, the piece de resistance…a high-anchored long ponytail of many different details and elongated dimensions.  It all balances beautifully against the sheer drop of straight-streaming dresses, narrow jackets, pencil skirts and bold boots.
